Optional Excursions


The following two tours are run by the Dualway Group but they can be booked & paid for on your registration form, you will receive your tickets in your delegate pack at registration.  For a relatively small island, Ireland offers a large variety of entertainment, scenery and culture.  The social programme we have drawn up offers participants and accompanying persons the opportunity to sample the atmosphere and hospitality for which Ireland is famous worldwide.

Dublin City Tour (Hop On, Hop Off)

This fully guided tour gives you an overall flavor of our historic and ancient city.  The tour departs every 10 to 15 minutes throughout the day.  You will see examples of Dublin’s superb architecture in the Georgian Streets and Squares.  This hop-on-hop-off tour will allow you to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Christchurch Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse and the Old Jameson Distillery.

The Dublin Bay & Castle Tour (Half Day Tour)

After a brief introduction to Dublin City, you will visit the pretty coastal village of Malahide and the 14th century Malahide Castle, where you will enjoy a guided tour and have time to wander in the craft shops and gardens.  The tour then trails past the pretty fishing village of Howth towards Howth Summit where there will be a 10 minute stop to enjoy the breathtaking views of Dublin Bay.  The tour then continues back into Dublin via the northern coastline.

The following three tours are private tours exclusively for IFCO delegates and have been organized specifically for this conference. You can book these tours when you are registering, both delegates and accompanying persons can enjoy these tours.

The Gardens of Ireland

Enjoy a leisurely Sunday drive into the heart of Wicklow’s hilly countryside on this all inclusive day trip.  Your tour continues, into the heart of the Wicklow Mountains, to Glendalough.  After your guided tour of this famous site of natural beauty and spiritualism, you will have time to enjoy lunch in the fanastic surroundings in Powerscourt Estate and after enjoy the magnificence of the historic house and gardens.

Great Houses and Grand Traditions

Travel to Co. Kildare to the home of one of Ireland’s proudest traditions – the National Stud. A tour of the stud and horse museum will entertain and delight even those who have not been bitten by the bug of horse racing! Integrated into the grounds of the National Stud are the Japanese Gardens. These really are a delight to view and are landscaped to take visitor on the “Path of Life” from the cradle to the grave.

From here we travel to Maynooth for lunch. After lunch there is a short drive to Castletown House, Ireland’s largest and finest Palladian country house built in the early 18th Century.

Dublin Zoo

Head to Dublin Zoo for a great fun day out. Come in and spot giraffe and zebra on the Plains of Africa and catch a glimpse of our growing herd of Asian elephants in the Rainforest. There's something for everyone at Dublin Zoo. Look out for keeper talks and animal feeding times. Wander through our spectacular grounds and enjoy the colours of the seasons. Enjoy your lunch included in Dublin Zoo surrounded by animals of the wild.
